Calabasas, Ca (August 3rd,2004) – Entertainment software developer and publisher NovaLogic, Inc. is delighted to announce that the groundbreaking new multiplayer FPS title Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising has set another new world record for simultaneous players in an LAN FPS game.
On Friday July 30th, 105 players at the CyberAthlete Professional League event in Grapevine, Texas connected to the CPL LAN server and played in a single game of Joint Operations, using NovaLogic’s own LAN Tournament Server. This is the first time a fully playable LAN game hosting over 100 players has taken place. The LAN game took place in the BYOC (bring your own computer) area, and on the Shuttle, Centon and nVidia booths.
Twin Galaxies' Official Video Game & Pinball Book of World Records was at the CPL to witness and certify the world record. "This breakthrough," explains Twin Galaxies' Walter Day, "will definitely be one of the more important technological achievements listed in the forthcoming edition of Twin Galaxies' Official Video Game & Pinball Book of World Records. Our 'Milestones' section in the record book will herald this as a world record, noting that Joint Operations challenges the entire gaming community to set higher and higher goals in game development."
Joint Operations is the only FPS to allow players to participate in mammoth 150 player battles with no subscription fee, more than double the player hosting capability of any other FPS. Incorporating vast maps of up to 50 km sq, a full 24 hour day/night cycle and 29 different land, sea and air vehicles to control, Joint Operations represents a huge leap forward for multiplayer FPS games.
Am Freitag, dem 30 Juli, wurde in Calabasas "angeblich" ein neuer Rekord von Seitens NovaLogic aufgestellt. Bei der Cyber Athlete Professional League konnten 105 Spieler zum erstmal gleichzeitgig auf einem Server spielen.
